One of our main projects was the building of a primary school for the 400 children on Dattigaon-Mission. Thanks to generous donations we were able to collect 40´000.- Swiss francs. This is the total amount of the new building. We were very happy to start with the work in springtime 2004...

The problem was that no additional toilets and washrooms were planned, but the current facilities were already insufficient for so many children. With regard to the fact that in future the amount of children will raise, additional washrooms and toilets had to be planned. By July 2004 the school was almost completely built and therefore was ready for the new term to start. Guido traveled to India in July 2004 for the opening of the new school and to arrange the equipment.

Finally in January 2005 we could admire the definitely completed school (inclusive two new washrooms and toilet buildings).

In 2007 our primary school was extended with three new classrooms and the new building was handed over to the children and teachers in a nice opening celebration in October 2007. The new rooms give a lot more space and are very light and friendly. Also new school benches and furniture were provided for this building. Now the Primary School of Dattigaon have become a great education institution for two Kindergarden classes and pupils up to 8th standard.

To provide a school uniform for the pupils of the primary school was very important for Father Edward and as well for our children there. In India, usually every school has its own uniform. This is quite important in a country where the social gap between the different casts is very big. With these uniforms we could provide a social equality at least in school and the children are very proud of it and identify themselves with "their" school in Dattigaon.
